Attention Middle Schools and Students!

Announcing the 3rd Annual Junior Invention Convention!

Presented by the Inventor's Alliance of Northern California

  • Who: 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Schools and Students
  • What: A free invention contest held at participating middle schools to promote and reward learning and inventiveness. The top three winners from each invited school district have the opportunity to move on to the finals held at the Redding Convention Center and receive prizes outlined below.
  • When: November 17, 2007
  • Where: November 17, 2007- County and State Finals
  • Cost: FREE!
  • Awards: Participants have the chance to move on to the County and State Junior Invention contests where they can win college scholarships, professional patent services, and participation awards from Edmund's Scientific.
  • Students: Northern California 6th, 7th and 8th-grade students residing within the boundaries of an invited school district can enter your inventions for free.

In 2006, our 12-year-old winner Lacey Callahan received a $2,000 college scholarship and a patent application for her invention submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Did You Know...

That there is no age restriction for an inventor? U.S. patent #07/868,250 was granted to four-year-old, Sydney Dittman, of Huston, Texas. Her invention, entitled “Aid for grasping round knobs” was filed on April 14, 1992 and issued on August 3, 1993. Who said you have to be older to create an invention that solves a problem?
